Biblical Basics

God established the 7th Day in the beginning, reiterates it to all of Israel through Moses, and confirms it foundational in the Ten Commandments and throughout the Torah, Prophets and Apostolic Writings. There are only a small handful of Biblical guidelines in the proper observance of Abba’s Sabbath. What are they ? (chapter and verse . . .)

Profound Simplicity

Earlier, Rhonda wrote a response to a Facebook newsfeed post concerning happenings having to do with halloween. She made a statement that is profound in it’s simplistic clarity and can accurately be applied to the other ‘holiday seasons’ that are a mixing and twisting of truth. Her statement ?

It is this – ” we are to be a peculiar people and not a participating people with the things of the world.”

What should we do ?

No division of Israel or Jerusalem . . . Solidarity . . . Support for Israel . . . These are all popular statements in today’s atmosphere, but are they all ‘Biblical’ ? We know this doesn’t sound ‘supportive’ and may not be very popular, so, BEFORE you run away, please understand we are avid, passionate supporters of the land of Israel and the Israeli people. We understand and teach the reality that the Land of Israel is the promised homeland, the ultimate destination and eternal habitation of every ‘born-again’ believer. We are to pray for the shalom of Jerusalem, to bless and be a blessing to the God and family of Abraham through Isaac to Jacob. So, if that is how we feel concerning the Land of Israel and the Israeli people, why do we have difficulty and feel challenged when asked to pray against the dividing of the Land of Israel and the city of Jerusalem ? GOD states through the prophets Joel and Zechariah the land will be divided and the nations will be judged accordingly. For us, to pray against the dividing of the Land is to literally pray against that which Abba has declared. We would that the Land would not be torn asunder, but God in His foreknowledge has said it. What we DO pray is that the US as a nation and a people would not be involved in the division of the Land of Israel. But that, too, doesn’t seem to be.

So what do we do ? As commanded, we pray for the shalom – the wholeness of Jerusalem, which will not exist until the Prince of Peace returns. As admonished, we bless the people and the Land and stand by and with them. It is God’s Land with which He has a covenant and we, as believers, are all part of the citizenship of Israel by the Blood of Messiah Yeshua. We pray for mercy, grace and deliverance for the ‘ten righteous in the city’, in Israel as well as this nation and all those that stand against His ways in these days. We pray we might be the light and salt in the place where we are until He returns. We will stand . . . we will pray . . . and when we’ve done all, we will see the Salvation of Israel. Shalom –

Truth or Delusion ? . . . we have a decision to make . . .

The link below was posted this morning. As soon as I saw it a chill came over me. There is a spirit of death associated with this and was and will be celebrated by people all across this land. The really sad and frightening part is believers in Messiah will be participating in this set apart day to Satan. In churches across this nation people will be dressing up in what they call ” good and friendly” costumes to hand out candy and tracts to try and draw in and convert people to the God of the Bible through the work of the Saviour, the very God and Saviour who’s Words stand against the very tool (halloween) being used. My question is convert people to what?
What difference is there in the holy days of the world ( halloween, christmas, easter, valentines day) and the holy days that are being taught and kept in the churches today? They are one and the same no matter how you try to spin them or try and add the name of Jesus to sanctify and justify them. These holy days of the world and now the church are not the Holy Days that the God of the bible, the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob, set apart for His people to keep. Those are listed in Lev.23 (and other places). You cannot find where His people were keeping any of the holidays we now have in the church except when His people were in error and were practicing a mixture or had abandoned Him and His ways completely. Do we really think Yeshua would condone or be apart of or participate in the carnival-like festivity that is depicted below? Notice in one of the descriptions of this parade they use the word ‘carnival’ which carries the connotation of ‘riotous excess’ and revelry.

The word ‘Carnival’ was first used in the late 1500’s to early 1600’s referring to the period of revelry leading up to Lent. At the foot of Mt. Sinai (Gen.32) ‘they rose up to play’. The word ‘play’ used here in the Hebrew carries a very deep meaning. It not just ‘fun-time’ but actually carries the picture of ‘conjugal caresses’. In the Spirit realm this would be considered spiritual adultery or ‘Idolatry’. That is the kind of ‘play’ that went on at the foot of the mountain and that is how God sees the ‘play’ at Halloween and other pagan festivities that we participle in and come up before Him as a stench in His nostrils, as opposed to observance of His Holy-days that comes up before Him as a sweet smelling savor. Notice in Gen. 32 there was a mixed multitude and in 2 Kings 17: 24 a mixed multitude was brought in to the kingdom of Israel and settled there. In both instances they were participating in a mixture of worship even though both groups had been instructed in the correct way to worship the Father. In fact in 2Kings 17:34-40 says it succinctly …….
2 Kings 17:34 “ To this day they persist in their former practices. They neither worship the LORD nor adhere to the decrees and ordinances, the laws and commands that the LORD gave the descendants of Jacob, whom he named Israel. 35 When the LORD made a covenant with the Israelites, he commanded them: “Do not worship any other gods or bow down to them, serve them or sacrifice to them. 36 But the LORD, who brought you up out of Egypt with mighty power and outstretched arm, is the one you must worship. To him you shall bow down and to him offer sacrifices. 37 You must always be careful to keep the decrees and ordinances, the laws and commands he wrote for you. Do not worship other gods. 38 Do not forget the covenant I have made with you, and do not worship other gods. 39 Rather, worship the LORD your God; it is he who will deliver you from the hand of all your enemies. 40 They would not listen, however, but persisted in their former practices.” Notice in verse 34 and 40 what it says……”they persist in their former practices…..they would not listen but persisted in their former practices.” Is that not the very thing that is happening in the church today?

Do we not bring all our worldly festivals with us and continue to practice them just as the nations did coming into the kingdom of Israel in 2 Kings? It was said of them in verse 33…..”they worshiped the LORD but they also served their own gods in accordance with the customs of the nations from which they had been brought. vs 41…..to this day their children and grandchildren continue to do as their fathers did”.   Sadly this is where the biggest part of the present day church finds itself.
So back to my original question….convert the people to what?   Notice in the first few pictures (link below) the progression shown…..disease, blood and then outright death (skeletons). Just a ponder…..coincidence or not that they put them in this order?
Isa. 24 says that “the earth is defiled by its people” and “therefore a curse consumes the earth; its people must bear their guilt” and why is the earth defiled?…..v.5…”they have disobeyed the laws, violated the statutes and broken the everlasting covenant”. It is evident that judgment is falling all around us on the earth. So why would we even want to participate in these set apart high holidays to another god (that we brought with us when we came into the kingdom) or even do what is spoken of in Gen.32 or 2 kings 17 and mix the two and call it worship of the One true God, Yahweh, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.? It is not and never will be! May we be found faithful at Yeshua’s return.
Luke 21:36 “Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape (literally – strength to survive) all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.”
Rev. 3:3 “Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard: obey it, and repent. But if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief and you will not know at what time I will come to you.”
Jeremiah 16:19 “O LORD, my strength and my fortress, My refuge in the day of affliction, The Gentiles shall come to You From the ends of the earth and say, “Surely our fathers have inherited lies, that which is worthless and unprofitable . . .””
Read Psalm 78 . . . TRUTH to our children and grandchildren.

Shabbat Shalom

” . . . remember that at that time you were separate from Messiah, excluded from the citizenship of Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. 13 But now, in Messiah Yeshua, you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Messiah. Ephesians 2:12

“Therefore speak to the people of Israel and say, ‘Above all you shall keep my Sabbaths, for this (the keeping) is a sign between me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I, YAHWEH, sanctify you. Exodus 31:13

Shabbat Shalom from our tribe to yours . . .

JOHN’S WAYWARD WOMEN

John’s Wayward Women

The following is not an exhaustive or all-inclusive examination of the prophetic types and shadows of the relationship between God and His people in Scripture, but just one of many. There are many more pictures and passages of this relationship and to attempt to list and discuss them all would take volumes. This is only a tidbit of what is in the Word.
It is not coincidence or happenstance that Yeshua has interaction with two wayward women in the Gospel of John – one in the territory of Ephraim and one in the territory of Judah. In John 4, with the woman at the well, we have Messiah beginning the process of fulfilling the prophecy that was spoken – “in the place where it was said you are not my people you shall be called the children of God” (Hosea 1:10, Rom 9:26) and four chapters later he is dealing with an adulterous woman in the very Temple area in Jerusalem, the seat of Judah, the other ‘wayward woman’.
The wayward woman He meets in John 4 at Jacob’s Well in Samaria, (the capital of the Northern Kingdom) is significant in many more ways than we can cover here. The Samaritan woman represents the prophecy of judgment and restoration concerning Ephraim in Hosea, the judgment being carried out in 2 Kings 17 and the restoration process beginning with the meeting at the well. Just as The Samaritan Woman had five husbands, so did the five nations of 2 Kings being brought into the northern kingdom had their Baals or lords/husbands.
Yeshua said the man she was with at that time was not her husband – she was not married. According to verse 25 of John 4 she knew Messiah was coming but did not know Him yet. In other words, she was not ‘truly married’, if you will, for her true Husband had not yet arrived, although she was looking for Him, Him/the Husband being Messiah. In verse 26 Messiah reveals Himself to her. Yeshua stayed with them in Samaria two days and departed on the third and many believed on Him, coinciding with the statement in Hosea 6:2 “After two days He will revive us and on the third day He will raise us up, That we may live in His sight.” Yeshua said in John 4:4 ‘He had to go through Samaria’, enabling Him to meet the Woman at Jacob’s Well and begin this prophetic fulfillment.
The other wayward woman – the one caught in adultery – was presumed married but was with another man. This is a picture of Judah, the treacherous sister of Jeremiah 3. Ephraim was divorced by her Husband, El Shaddai, as punishment for her adultery and the divorcement was to be an example to Judah, her sister, but to no avail. The woman in John 8 is brought to Yeshua and accused of the crime of adultery. HE bends down and writes in the dust. We must remember Yeshua embodies not only the Groom but also the High Priest. We have a very similar picture in Numbers 5 when the potentially guilty woman is presented to the Priest who proceeds to take dust from the floor of the temple (the same place where the woman is brought to Yeshua) and writes a curse. By this act she will either be declared guilty or innocent. Yeshua arises from His writing, her accusers are gone, and ‘neither does HE condemn her’ but admonishes her to ‘sin no more’. It is also interesting to note Yeshua is ‘presented to both Ephraim and Judah’ at the sixth hour (John 4:6, John 19:14).
It is no coincidence, John, being the most ‘hebraic’ of the gospel accounts, includes both these women. They are, in fact, prophetic pictures of the spiritually adulterous nature of both houses of Israel, spoken of in Jeremiah 3, the one of which was divorced and will be restored, and the other which was estranged but will be reinstated. And all this comes about by the ‘death of the Testator’ (Hebrews 9:16) ; and not just His death only, but His burial, resurrection and triumphant return in these the last days to reclaim his reunited, spotless Bride – the Whole House of Israel.                     11 “Therefore remember that you, formerly gentiles in the flesh . . . 12 at that time were without Messiah, being aliens from the citizenship of Israel and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. 13 But now, in Messiah Yeshua, you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Messiah.”         Ephesians 2                                     Coincidence ? . . . or Prophetic . . . Shalom –

Sukkot . . . The Family Reunion

THE FAMILY REUNION

As a child growing up with my family in central Indiana, the one thing I looked forward to as much as anything else was the annual family reunion. Extended family would come from all the places they were scattered to one little spot in Kentucky . For that one weekend, ( some would stay longer) we would all come together and visit and play and tell and hear stories, and eat . . . and eat . . . and eat . . . there was so much food and it was all so good. Some of the family members were locals who would see one another on a regular basis, some everyday. Others we had not seen since the last Reunion and were from farther away – California, Florida, The Philippines – and for that one weekend we were all back together in one place . . . remembering . . . and making new memories. A time to remember ‘who you are and from where you have come’, my Dad would say.
The first thing we would do upon arrival would be to unpack the station wagon, take all the food into our Grandmother’s kitchen, unload the suitcases and get settled in for the visit. But once we had hurried the food into the kitchen, and before anything else was unloaded, we would run to see Mamaw. She didn’t get around very well, so she had her big chair in one spot in the living room, and we would make a bee-line to Mamaw’s chair to give and receive hugs and kisses. And then she would utter these words almost verbatim every year -“ come here and let Mamaw look at you . . . you look just like your daddy ( or mom) ; now you babies go on outside and play and we’ll call you in for supper.” As I sit here and write those words, memories rush back and I so miss those days.
But the time is soon coming for another ‘Reunion’; a reunion like no other; the Reunion of all Reunions. For the Bible says God will gather His people from all the places to which they have scattered, from the four corners of His creation. And He will bring them back to one little spot – their home – for a Reunion that never ends. This year, October 8-9 begins the Week of Tabernacles – a weeklong memorial celebration pointing towards that ultimate Family Reunion, a time when God’s family comes together to remember and make new memories . . . and look toward that final ingathering.
Zechariah 14 speaks of a challenging time to come when the Lord will return and set His feet on the Mount of Olives and begin the process of preparing His Land and the hometown of His people – all His people – for this Reunion of Reunions. The time of this return? The time of Feast of Tabernacles.
No, we are not saying ‘Jesus is coming back this year at this Tabernacles’. But we are saying when those dates and that week rolls around on your calendar, stop and remember. Remember, as a member of God’s family, remember who you are, from where you have come, looking forward to what is ahead. And may someone be able to look at us and say – ‘you look just like your Daddy’. ( Romans 8:15 – “ . . . for we have received the spirit of adoption by which we cry ‘Abba ( Daddy) , Father’. Shalom –
