Grandparent musings . . .

The other afternoon Rhonda and I were walking around the yard with the youngest of our six grandkids while two of the others played in the distance. As we guarded his steps, listening and trying to understand his words and making sure he didn’t falter while keeping an eye on the others, I suddenly realized that, if time permits and the LORD tarries, they will have opportunity to return the favor . . . so as the days grow more challenging, may we be driven closer together in Abba . . . DAYS THAT CALL FOR PERSEVERANCE . . .

 Isa 55:6 “Seek YHVH while HE may be found; call upon HIM while HE is near;
 7 let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to YHVH, that HE may have compassion on him, and to our God, for HE will abundantly pardon.
 8 For MY thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways MY ways, declares YHVH.
 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are MY ways higher than your ways and MY thoughts than your thoughts.
 10 “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
 11 so shall MY WORD be that goes out from MY mouth; it shall not return to ME empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.
 12 “For you shall go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and the hills before you shall break forth into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
 13 Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress; instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle; and it shall make a name for YHVH, an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.”

 Isaiah 56:1 Thus says YHVH :”Keep justice, and do righteousness, for soon MY Salvation

( Yeshua ) will come, and MY Deliverance be revealed.
 2 Blessed is the man who does this, and the son of man who holds it fast, who keeps the Sabbath, not profaning it, and keeps his hand from doing any evil.”
 3 Let not the foreigner who has joined himself to YHVH say, ” YHVH will surely separate me from HIS people”; and let not the eunuch say, “Behold, I am a dry tree.”
 4 For thus says YHVH : “To the eunuchs who keep MY Sabbaths, who choose the things that please ME and hold fast MY covenant,
 5 I will give in MY house and within MY walls a monument and a name better than sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name that shall not be cut off.
 6 “And the foreigners who join themselves to YHVH, to minister to HIM, to love the name of YHVH, and to be HIS servants, everyone who keeps the Sabbath and does not profane it, and holds fast MY covenant-
 7 these I will bring to MY holy mountain, and make them joyful in MY house of prayer; their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on MY altar; for MY house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.”
 8 Adonai YHVH, who gathers the outcasts of Israel, declares, “I will gather yet others to him besides those already gathered.”

Exo 31:13 “You are to speak to the people Israel and say, ‘Above all keep MY Sabbaths, for it

( the keeping )  is a sign between ME and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I, YHVH, sanctify you.

Feast of Trumpets – The Day of the Blast

 Isaiah 27:13  “And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great trumpet shall be blown . . .”
Joel 2:1 “Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD comes, it is nigh at hand;
Zechariah 9:14 “Then the LORD will appear over them; his arrow will flash like lightning. The Sovereign LORD will sound the trumpet; he will march in the storms of the south . . .”

In Numbers chapter 10 we are told the trumpets are used to gather the elders, gather the entire assembly, sound an alarm and call to war.
    Hopefully we also understand this holiday marks the beginning of the season of the Return of Messiah Yeshua. It should make us mindful of the price that has been paid to reconcile us back to our heavenly Father. With His return will come both great joy as well as great judgement . . . the ‘two-edged’ sword.
It is a time to rejoice in the Joy of our Salvation and to remember the great cost of that Salvation . . . a price that could only be covered by our Messiah.
     May it be the beginning of a time of self examination as we march humbly towards Yom Kippur, remembering that ‘judgement begins at the house of GOD’ and that if we ‘judge ourselves we will not have to be judged’ . . .
     The ‘last days’ have been swirling around us for 2,000 years. Yom Teruah – The Day of the Blast, Feast of Trumpets –  is the rehearsal for the beginning of the last 7 years.  Much is going on around the world and more pointedly in the Middle East. The time will come soon when this season will no longer be a rehearsal but the ‘opening night’ of the final performance . . . and it marks the beginning of the ‘Season of Our Joy’.
     Wednesday evening Sept 4th, 7:00pm we will assemble to celebrate that beginning.

The September Calendar

Here are the dates and times for the assemblies surrounding the Fall Holidays.

Yom Teruah – Feast of Trumpets – will begin Wed. evening the 4th and the assembly will be held at the congregational building at 7:00pm. From sundown wednesday until sundown thursday is a ‘high sabbath’.

Yom Kippur will begin friday evening and, as has been our practice, we will break the fast together in an assembly on saturday the 14th at 6:30pm ( also at the congregational building )  in lieu of our regular afternoon Shabbat meeting. This friday evening through saturday evening is also a ‘particularly high day’.

Wednesday evening, the 18th, will be the first assembly of the week of Sukkot and will take place at the Mercer County Fairgounds, Harrodsburg KY, 7:30pm. We will have access to the fairgrounds all that day on wednesday so folks can have time for ‘set-up’ prior to the ‘high sabbath’ beginning at sundown wednesday evening.

Based on the feedback so far, the cost for the use of the fairgrounds for Sukkot will be $60.00 per family unit for the entire 8 day period.

If you have NOT contacted us concerning your plans to attend, please do ASAP – we need to know by wednesday of this week . . .Wed Aug. 21st . . .

Stay tuned for more updates over the next few days as we make final plans for this year’s Feast of Tabernacles – Rehearsal for the final Homecoming . . . Shalom U’vrachot- J & R

UPCOMING FALL HOLIDAYS

Based on our understanding of the Word and on projected
dates of upcoming ‘new moons’, the dates for the upcoming
holidays are as follows :
 Yom Teruah ( Feast of Trumpets) – evening of Sept. 4th – evening of 5th . . .
Yom Kippur ( Atonement)             – evening of Sept. 13th – evening of 14th . . .
Sukkot ( Feast of Tabernacles)       – evening of Sept. 18th – evening of 26th . . .

NOW . . . The Fairgrounds are available to us for those dates and have been reserved.
The cost for the grounds again $ 450 for the 8 days. In the past couple years, the cost per family has been roughly
$ 50.00 per family unit .
  In an effort to project the cost per family this year, we need an accurate count of the
number of families that will be in attendance.
     PLEASE send an ‘RSVP’  ASAP so that we can all plan accordingly.

Shalom to your home – J & R
