Shabbat Shalom
Let’s talk a moment about ‘clean and unclean’ and the connection with idolatry and what many refer to as ‘pagan’. First, let’s take a closer look at what the Word has to say about ‘clean and unclean’. There is that which is clean by creation and design – divine conception, if you will – and that which is unclean by the same design. A cow is a ‘clean animal’ according to Scripture and therefore is good for food. It can become ‘unclean’ or dirty externally, but that does not change it’s created nature as a clean animal. (by the way, there is no such thing as unclean food . . . if it is unclean, it is not ‘food’). A pig, on the other hand, is an unclean animal designed by God as an unclean creature for a particular purpose. (Leviticus 11:7) The pig’s uncleanness is part and parcel of it’s very essence and nature and cannot be changed. I can bathe the pig from now on, and it will not change it’s unclean, created nature. By the way, Scripture does describe how that which is clean can become unclean, but that state of uncleanness is external only and once properly dealt with, according to Scripture, the internal, innate nature of the clean creation has not been altered.
Man is a clean creation and his ( and her) God-designed internal, innate state of cleanness cannot be changed. Man CAN become involved or exposed to that which can make the person unclean externally. But once the proper procedure is followed, according to Scripture, the individual is once again declared clean. (for example – Lev 14:19,15:13) Acts 10 depicts the account of Peter and the famous sheet full of unclean creatures. God uses this example, by Peter’s own admission, to teach Peter, contrary to Judaic teaching, gentiles are not common or unclean creatures and should not be treated as such. Assuming God did not have one pattern for gentiles and another ‘clean’ mold for Israelis, the logical conclusion is one man should not consider another man an unclean being. That person might temporarily be in an unclean state, but man is not an unclean creature by his created nature. He has a sinful nature, but not unclean. There IS a difference.
Now let’s examine for just a moment the concepts of ‘pagan’ and ‘idolatrous’. By definition, ‘pagan’ is a term historically applied in a negative connotation towards people groups not a part of the three primary monotheistic world religions. ‘Pagan’ can refer to peoples that involve themselves in what would be considered ‘idol worship’ by Christianity or Judaism. Paganism is also a religious order that worships creation and the ‘spirits of nature’. A layman’s definition of ‘pagan’, for the sake of this discussion, would be ‘that which by it’s very nature and conception is contrary to the God of the Bible, His Word and His ways.’
Idolatry, again in layman’s terms, is anything that comes between us and God. Anything that gets between me and my Heavenly Father may be considered ‘idolatrous’, even if it is ‘clean’ by it’s nature and in line with the Word of God. Example ? Sure . . . the ‘snake on the pole’. The directive for the snake on the pole came straight from the Mouth of Yahweh. It was good and brought deliverance to the people. And yet, because the people allowed it to get between them and God Almighty, it became idolatrous and brought judgment on the people.
The statement has been made that we shouldn’t worry about where things come from. With all due respect and love, we must humbly disagree with that statement. Had we known the roots and origination of the some of the practices of the mainstream denominational system, we might not have gotten involved. But since we were not taught the roots and conception of some of those practices, we openly embraced things we ought not have.
In Acts 10, Abba brings Peter to the understanding that non-Israelis are NOT unclean creatures as the teachings of Judaism profess. They, just like Israelis, are clean by creation. Yes, we are conceived in sin physically, but we are not unclean and sinful by God’s design.
Job asks the question – ‘who can make the clean out of the unclean ? No one’ is his answer. (Job 14:4) I can kosher a pig and put it in a dress, but I cannot change it’s created nature. It is still an unclean animal . . . a pig in a dress. By the same token, sin does not change man’s created essence. No man is to be considered common or unclean. (Acts 10:28) I can become ‘unclean’ externally, but I can get clean again and welcomed into the presence of My Father. Unrepented, unforgive sin is an internal matter that will separate me from My Heavenly Father forever. So, one of our jobs in these last days ? Teach the people, God’s people, the difference between the clean and the unclean, the holy and the profane. Shalom to you and yours – J&R
Pondering Passover
It’s getting close to time for Passover once again, and we wanted to take a few minutes to think out loud. Here are a few quick thoughts to ponder concerning elements that go back to the very beginning in the garden and are connected to Passover as we consider the First Adam and Yeshua, the Second Adam.
Yeshua was hung on a tree, the same thing that caused all the problem with Adam and Eve in the beginning – a tree.
Because of sin, blood was shed to provide a covering for the First Adam and his bride. Because of sin, the Blood of the Second Adam was shed to provide reconciliation and atonement for His Bride.
In the beginning all creation came from the dust. The dust and all that came from it was cursed due to sin. Yeshua took on dust in order to redeem from sin all that came from the dust.
Thorns and thistles were a product of the curse brought about by sin. The First Adam, because of the thorns and thistles, brought forth bread by the sweat of his brow. Yeshua took those thorns upon His brow, applying His Blood to them, in order to deliver even that part of the creation of the dust from the curse brought about by sin.
The First Adam was placed in a deep sleep and his side was opened up, birthing his bride. On the cross, Yeshua, the Second Adam, was destined to die, a deep sleep if you will. His side was opened up and out of that wound flowed water and blood, birthing His Eternal Bride.
By the disobedience of the First Adam and his bride, the door of direct communion with our Father was closed and they could no longer ‘walk with Him in the cool of the day’. By His ‘obedience unto death’, Yeshua, the Second Adam, reopened the veil of access to our Father for His Bride through the tearing of the Veil of His Flesh. The Veil of the Temple was torn asunder and thrown side to side, symbolizing that renewed access to our Father.

A Torah Tidbit
Numbers 33:5 The Israelites left Rameses and camped at Succoth. 6 They left Succoth and camped at Etham, on the edge of the desert. 7 They left Etham, turned back to Pi Hahiroth, to the east of Baal Zephon, and camped near Migdol. 8 They left Pi Hahiroth and passed through the sea into the desert, and when they had traveled for three days in the Desert of Etham, they camped at Marah. 9 They left Marah and went to Elim, where there were twelve springs and seventy palm trees, and they camped there.
While reading the passage above, two verses stood out in our minds as we read. It’s very easy to see Yeshua in these passages, especially verse 8 and 9. If we look at some of the definitions of the words, we can get a pretty vivid picture of Yeshua’s work of Salvation. This is not all-inclusive and much more could be said, but here is just a prophetic snapshot.
In verse 8, Israel passed through and was ‘baptized’ in the sea, which is a picture of Yeshua’s baptism as well. They traveled into the desert after their ‘baptism’ just as Yeshua was driven into the wilderness after His. Israel journeyed in the desert of Etham three days (just as Yeshua was 3 days and 3 nights in the grave Matt 12:40) and camped in Marah. Israel left Marah and entered Elim, a place of 12 springs and 70 palms.
Let’s look a little closer at some of these words. The word ‘etham’ ( translated as ‘plowshare’ by some) is ‘Aleph Tav Mem’ – The Aleph Tav or ‘The First and Last’, ‘The Beginning and The End’ and the mem is a masculine plural ending ( as in elohim), an interesting combination of letters, to say the least. The word translated ‘camped’ can also mean ‘to bend down or lay siege to’. Marah is ‘bitterness’ and Elim is ‘palms’ and is also the root word for ‘ayil’ or ram, door post, tree, prominence and it is where we get the word ‘Jubilee’. Yeshua is all these things – the blood on the door post, the One Who hung on the tree, the One Who is the Lamb and the Ram, and the One given Prominence and Preeminence from His Father. Messiah Yeshua ‘traveled’ three days and three nights through death – ‘The Wilderness’ that only He, The First and Last, could endure. He bowed down ( “no man takes My life; I lay it down;” John 10:17-18) and laid siege to ‘bitterness’ and emerged on the other side, ‘plowing’ the way for His people to be able to experience eternal ‘Jubilee’. Elim is a place of 12 springs and 70 palms. The 12 springs and 70 palms are a picture of the 12 Tribes and 70 nations, the wild branches and the natural branches being brought together in Yeshua in the Kingdom in these last days.

As I read this article below, I kept hearing the word ‘grievous’ in my spirit….those babies were slaughtered and not allowed to be born but their body parts are being allowed to be birthed, if you will, through a rat!??!What a heinous, grievous abomination before and in the face of our maker and creator YAHWEH !!
